Les Robot checks back in on his faithful with 'The Semi-Hollow,' an EP of his amazingly off-kilter cinematic shred guitar instrumentals. He is a modern composer of rock music in the Zappa tradition but with his own unmistakable voice. This music lives in a world all its own while remaining both inviting and accessible. The tracks are expressive, technical, textural, and melodic all at once and display the confidence of an artist comfortable in his own creative universe. All five cuts are worthy of a listen but “Headache Machine” and “Bumble B Boogie” will get you off to a good start.
